Family magazine raises £3 million for Marie Curie Cancer Care

Donations from sales of monthly family magazine 'Candis' have now reached £3 million over the past seven years.

Part of the magazine's subscription income is donated to health-related charities and Marie Curie Cancer Care receives 43% of these donations.

Candis magazine sells 306,607 copies a month nationwide to members of the 'Candis Club'.

Local pub donates 10p per meal to local village hall appeal

The Farmers pub in Portinscale, Cumbria, is donating 10p from every meal sold in 2004 towards its local Village Hall appeal.

The initiative, which has raised £400 so far, came at a crucial time for Portinscale Village Hall, situated next door to The Farmers, as it had recently been refused Lottery funding to restore the building.

Charity Commission announces Wales office team

The Charity Commission has announce the
appointment of a team of nine to lead charity regulation in Wales.

The staff are all Welsh recruits and will be based at the charity regulator's new office in Newport, Gwent. They bring experience from government, the voluntary sector, business, teaching, IT and journalism.

Abbey seeks charity applications for £100,000 in Camden area
