Charity shop's shed is stolen

Staff at the Barnardo's charity shop in Downham, south east London, are appealing for the return of their 8ft-by-6ft shed which went missing overnight.

The shed disappeared on the night of 7/8 November, and appears to have been moved intact, somehow passing over a seven foot high fence. The shop is located on a busy road in a residential area.

Welsh charities raise £9.5 million a year with Gift Aid

The number of Welsh charities using Gift Aid has almost doubled over the past year, raising around £9.5 million of additional income for the sector.

The Giving Campaign Wales reports that around 6,000 charities across Wales have now registered for Gift Aid and can claim an extra 28% from the Inland Revenue on donations from UK taxpayers.

Poppy collector attacked with hammer

A 79 year-old war veteran was attacked with a hammer on Monday while collecting for the Royal British Legion.

Eric Paternoster was attacked while collecting in a Safeway store in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. He is recovering at home but has vowed to return to collecting in next year's Poppy campaign.

BBC repeats Working in the Community series again

The BBC is repeating the Working in the Community series again from 3rd - 14th November on BBC2 from 5am - 6am.

BBC Learning Zone, BBC TWO's overnight record and play education service, will rescreen its series of programmes about working in the community next month. It was last repeated in August 2003.

Charity Commission releases dormant money for local charities

Money in dormant bank accounts has been donated to charities in Bristol and South Gloucestershire by the Charity Commission.

Following a successful pilot project to find money held in dormant charity accounts and
release it to local charities, the Charity Commission has distributed £20,000.
