Fundraising consultancy Midas is once again running its 'Big Gifts with Big Givers' two-day course.

Midas has for some time been bringing fundraisers and big givers together to help them understand the process of this form of giving and to fine-tune presentations.

The Institute of Fundraising is again holding a Major Donor Fundraising conference following the success of its first outing last year. This year's conference will be held on 30 March 2006 at The Royal Over-Seas League, London.

The Institute of Fundraising has published the new Code of Fundraising Practice entitled 'Best Practice for Major Donor Fundraising', which can be downloaded a no charge from the Institute's website.

Richard Desmond donates £2.5m to children's eye hospital

Richard Desmond, owner of the Express newspaper group, has donated £2.5 million to Moorfields Eye Hospital towards the building of a new children's eye centre. The new building will be named The Richard Desmond Children's Eye Centre.

Desmond, a Moorfields patient, has previously supported glaucoma research at the hospital.

New book on major donors due for publication in April

"Major Donors: Finding Big Gifts in Your Database and Online", featuring a chapter by UK Fundraising's Howard Lake, will be published in April 2006 by John Wiley & Sons.

Church appeal claims good progress

CCS Europe, one of the world's leading fundraising consultancies, has raised £6 million of its £7 million target for the 'Planning For The Future' appeal. The appeal, which is ahead of schedule, is for the Catholic disocese of Down and Connor for cathedral restoration, priest retirement and lay education.

Draft Major Donor Code of Practice published

The Institute of Fundraising has published the draft Code of Fundraising Practice for Major Donor Fundraising.


This is the Institute's first Major Donor Fundraising Code and it has been developed by a Working Party over the past year. Fundraisers can now add their views on the draft until 30 September 2005.
