Wood Family Trust to support developing countries and young people

The Wood Family Trust was launched today with plans to invest £50m over the next five to 10 years in charitable activities to improve economic activity and livelihoods in developing countries, and help the development of young people in Scotland and the rest of the UK.

Action Planning's annual conference on major donor fundraising, 'Raising funds from the Rich', has attracted over 1,000 delegates, with a month to go before the event.

The event on 9 October at Central Hall Westminster in London features an address by Sir Tom Hunter, whom Action Planning describe as "Britain's biggest donor", who has pledged to give £1 billion to charity.

Billionaire retailer Sir Tom Hunter, one of the biggest donors to UK charities, is to open this year's 'Raising funds from the Rich' conference, to be held at Central Hall Westminster on 9 October. Merrill Lynch/Capgemini have published the 11th annual World Wealth Report, which says that there are now 9.5 million High Net Worth (NHW) people around the world, with total assets of $37.2 trillion.
