Lloyds TSB Foundation reports on impact assessment

The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales has published its findings on what results its funding has achieved in the field of mental health.

The research looked at how much impact core funding had compared to project funding, the relative impact of smaller as opposed to larger grants, and the extent to which recipients undertake self-evaluation.

Syntegra Edinburgh Marathon runners raise funds online

Runners in next month's Edinburgh Marathon have already raised over £20,000 online using Justgiving's services.

Justgiving is the official online fundraising partner of the Syntegra Edinburgh Marathon which takes place on Sunday 15 June 2003. As of today 137 runners have created pages on Justgiving, raising £20,598 in sponsored donations.

Nearly half of UK homes have Internet access

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) reports that 45% of British households have Internet access, a 6% increase on the previous year's figure.

The ONS reports that 11.4 million UK households had Internet access at home in the fourth quarter of 2002. In addition, 62% of adults had accessed the Internet at some time. For those aged 16-24 the access figure was 95%.

British Legion awards two marketing contracts

The Royal British Legion has awarded two three-year contracts to marketing agencies Citigate Albert Frank and Target Direct.

The agencies, who have both worked with the Legion before, will focus on the development of the award-winning Poppy Appeal campaign, and on the 60th anniversary of D-Day in 2004 and VE Day in 2005.

British foundations - locked in a time warp?

behind modern developments," said Lord Trevor Smith in the Foreword to a report by the LSE's Centre for Civil Society published last year.

Public loses interest in leaving a charitable legacy

A survey for the Legacy Promotion Campaign (LPC) has found that more people than ever will not leave a charitable bequest in their will.

NOP carried out the research for the LPC and found that 40% of 50-65 year olds were not likely to include a charity in their will. Fifty four per cent felt leaving charitable legacies were of "little importance".
