A petition signed by 22,191 people has been handed in to the Welsh Assembly in an effort to persuade the Welsh Government to help protect Welsh charity shops from an increase in business rates.
The public is being encouraged to look out for bogus charity clothing collections in an effort to tackle a problem that is estimated to cost UK charities up to £50 million a year in lost income.
The Charity Retail Association has criticised Mary Portas' suggestion that the number of charity shops able to claim rate relief in any one town centre should be restricted.
