Reading Is Fundamental launches Clifford the Big Red Dog badges

Reading Is Fundamental, UK, an initiative of the National Literacy Trust, is to partner with The Big Badge Company to produce Clifford The Big Red Dog badges for sale from Summer 2003.

The badges will be produced in three designs to collect and will retail at £1 with 70p of each sale going directly to RIF, UK to support the promotion of children's literacy.

The British Heart Foundation is for the first time encouraging wider participation in its fundraising and awareness week by encouraging people to wear red.

Heart Week takes runs from 7-15 June 2003, and the charity is encouraging people to wear red throughout the week or at least on Friday 13 June. Of course, it is also encouraging people to make a donation of at least £1 as well.

New online insurance service to help charities raise funds

An online insurance service could help charities secure for themselves the 20% commission usually paid to a broker.

Claiming to be the first 'insurance fundraiser' of its kind, the scheme has been developed by charity specialist Charity Business in partnership with Aisa Direct, an Independent Financial Adviser regulated and authorised by the Financial Services Authority.

Readers had contacted the newspaper claiming that such theft was rife in their area, so the newspaper set up "stings" outside charity shops in London, Oxford, Cardiff, Ilkeley and Didsbury.
