Poppy Appeal collector wins Legion gold award for service

Congratulations to Betty Reed, 81, from Brighton for 40 years of local fundraising. She received the Royal British Legion's gold award for service in recognition of her 40 years of voluntary support for the appeal.

Her husband, Peter Reed, a disabled ex-serviceman, died 38 years ago. Since then, she has been supported by the charity.

The Daily Telegraph reports that a woman aged 102 has appeared in a nude fundraising calendar to raise funds for her local football club, Ancaster Athletic in Lincolnshire.

Hats off, and everything else presumably, to great-great grandmother Nora Hardwick.
