Volunteers

Three board members and a Fellow

The Institute of Fundraising wants to recruit three new board members and to receive nominations for Fellowship of the Institute.

Human Library

BBC Radio 4 broadcast an item on the Human Library the other day. Apparently, The Human Library is designed to promote dialogue, reduce prejudices and encourage understanding.

The most successful team I've ever been part of

I've been completing application forms for volunteer opportunities and aside from the fact that they are very long, it struck me that they are almost indistinguishable from job application forms.  It appears charities are becomming fussier about who they will accept as volunteers; and I think this is a good thing.  But that's for another blog.  What I liked were the thought-provoking questions around successful teams and team dynamcis.

Are you making best use of fundraising volunteers?

Inspiration, by any means necessary…

I am off to Borneo to build some capacity. Not any old capacity you understand, but some of the seriously sustainable stuff. And I’m a tad scared.

Honours for deserving people; whatever next!

I'm a fortnight behind the game here I know, but I've only really just looked at the names of 'honoured' individuals from this year's list.  Is anyone else tired of seeing overpaid footballers, popstars and TV personalities being awarded gongs simply for being on TV.  I’ve long believed that the New Year’s honours list should contain just that; honours for deserving individuals.
